review time

ok, as promised, no more wallowing.  so im gonna do the second thing i most usually do in my blog which is to make a review of things i own so that you don't have to buy them and make the same mistakes i did.

(...there is laughing in my head)

anyways, nothing bad to say about the first thing on my list which is JML's wet straight pro.  its the hair iron that can be used on dry or damp hair.  because irish' very happy recommended it to me i never thought twice in buying it even though i already have:

philips 8-in-1 hair styer.  very helpful but it takes a lifetime to heat up and forever to finish styling your whole head, especially for curling.  even the simple straightener pisses me off.

conair plimatic trix stix hair straightener.  it heats up decently but my hair gets tangled all the time.  apart from the fact that it only has 3 inches of heating plate.

now we happily go to wet straight pro...

if irish is happy with this product, i am happier!  i can actually straighten my hair even if it is still damp!  (damp, ok? you'll electrocute yourself if you use it on wet hair... then you'd be back at one in straightening your hair :D)  and not only that, i also tried curling my hair and it took only 20 minutes without hurrying.  (for a tutorial on how to curl your hair using a flat iron, click here)  what's more, i did not notice any drying or stiffening in  my hair, which usually happens when your hair dries up from all the heat of the iron.  one morning when i did not have time to style my hair and just went to the office just brushing it, it was still straight and soft.  you can also select your preferred temperature.  i am so impressed...

the only disadvantage is that if you look at it, the buttons for the temperature and power is on the side, and i always accidentally push this every time i use it.  i have learned to avoid it, though the first times were a pain.

quick trivia:  i have read that the peace sign in photographs have been in fashion because the japanese started using them to promote world peace, then the rest of asia followed (that is why most teenagers in asia have photos with the peace sign in friendster and facebook) then the rest of the world.  so, let's promote world peace, everyone!

next review is for a hong kong-made MAC Hello Kitty eyeshadow that i purchased from ebay for just $10 and revlon 12-hour colorstay quad which is a gift from ariane.

yes, it's not really MAC, but who cares?  as long as that mouthless cat with a ribbon is on the label, id be happy to bid for it (lol), but seriously i was suprised to see that it was of good quality, the shadows are so creamy and the bright colors are so lovable!

even the applicator is so smooth and soft!

compared to the applicators i bought from lifestyle which looks spongy, i actually love using mac hello kitty's applicator.  it earned its space in my cosmetic case (i leave my big 120-eyeshadow pack at home and bring mac hello kitty for touch ups or for late mornings :)

meanwhile, ariane sent me this eyeshadow in hope that i might evolve without her knowing that i already did in less than a year when she left.  i guess san diego made her miss me so much that she even sent me a watch from style&co... thanks pokie!

anyways, the revlon eyeshadow's color is very helpful if i want smokey eyes, which is rare.  i tested it for a few days and the colors do have staying power.  and it did not crease or fade.  the only downside is that it came with this applicator that looks worse than my lifestyle sponges.

apart from that, she also sent me 2 nail polishes which i really felt bad about because maricel's pack only has a watch while mine has a lot, so i told her that i only had one nail polish.  ooops...

i love sally hansen nail polishes!

of all the blue nail polishes that i own, i love this the most!  it looks royal blue and my konad plates were happy too!  i began using them again this week..

i was so happy staring at my nails so i gave myself the same pedicure:

that's what i call happy feet! :)

posting whatever's on my mind.

i started getting lazy at blogging again.

i have so much to say but i ran out of interest saying much these days.

well, for one, it is officially wintertime here.  six days ago it was still awkward to wear a denim jacket but now i even wore it after my walk to the office and inside.  it was so comfy in those warm jackets and as usual, i was feeling sleepy again.  and did i mention that it was free?  one of my free voucher last eid holiday was for Lucky Stores and i told irish to buy it for me when she passed by to let them sign their magazine space.

bambi and i have been loving warm bubble baths these past few days, too.  but we did so separately.  my sched is on fridays, like today, after finishing all my friday chores - cleaning, laundry, cooking and sleeping.  it was like a mini-spa ritual coz i always put something on my hair, a pearl and egg treatment this week as opposed to the usual glossy hair spa the past weeks, and i also dabbed some warmed grapes on my face as a mask.  go to work, you anti-oxidants!  bambi's schedule is anytime he wants.  he actually finished the mango bubble smoothie that i bought, so now im using the orange lather as a bubble-bath substitute.  which is better coz it smells citrus-y.

and what else?  hmm, maybe the reason for my laziness is the fact that jared's visa was rejected again.  for the ninth time.  it was on the last step, finished from lmra, then CIO, and in GDNPR (immigration) it was rejected after 2 hours.  we were heartbroken.

but its not like me to give up when there is still hope.  so after the holidays im gonna ask for help from our superior who has a friend in the immigration for another try, otherwise i won't go home this december.   it was so painful to walk away when he was still a baby, how much more now that he has grown?

and speaking of holidays, this must be the last of the longest holiday we will have this year.  since one of the Eid holiday fell on friday, they moved it to monday, making our holidays four days instead of only three.  a lazy man's paradise, indeed.

and it was the 2nd half-week long holiday this year, coz last september we also had eid holidays lasting three days.  i think on december when we have their national day we'll also have a three-day holiday.  let's keep our hopes up.

i am also doing maricel and irish' eyeshadows every single day last week, they're like my practice dolls coz everytime i see a tutorial in youtube i do it to them the next morning.  and they love it so much that i have to bring my big 120-palette eyeshadow in the office for our daily dose of happiness.

some pictures:

eyeshadow crazies

i love it! almost three-dimensional

purple haze!

what bums me this week is that my other purchases from ebay hasn't arrived yet.  it has been 1 month and im still waiting for 12 more items, but everyday was a disappointment.

hmm.. what am i gonna do with these four days?!?

hoping the best, expecting the worst

bambi's company applied for jared's visa again yesterday.

my superior also helped processing his papers in the immigration.

my colleague said, upon reading my fb's status said i can hope but i should not expect.  is that even possible?

here we are again in this rollercoaster ride of emotions as we apply for jared's papers and each day we wish to see the 'approved' status in his application number...  God, i really hope they'll approve it this time...

on another note, i fired my assistant today.  well, actually, yesterday, but today was her last day.  and, ok, actually, i didn't.  my boss just told me to.  ok, my boss fired her.  my boss said she was too slow (ehem, physically okay?  not mentally) and she doesn't sound like someone he can give infinite orders to.

he kind of thinks that there is someone out there who is like me.  and that we should hire her.  good luck, coz as far as i know, and without being conceited, this one's unique.

self-admiration aside, i am proud to say that he can depend on me for graphics, not only for advertising but also for his family's personal requirements, and i can be totally reliable in the office as long as i have my n95 for reminders.  plus, he can call me whatever time he feels like for instructions, either official or family-related, and i am totally presentable.  and decent.  and loyal.  and tidy.

ok, maybe not tidy.

so today i was flying solo. again.  running here and there, and didn't even get to sleep in the afternoon coz maricel and irish went to our house for a konad/manicure session.

but i was too happy to design their nails anyways!  actually, you couldn't count maricel's nails as nails, coz they're too small :)

pink base with black flowers.  we chose the smallest flowers, obviously.

i also put eyeshadow on irish', coz i am always excited to put eyeshadow on everybody.  i actually did maricel and kat's eyes last halloween party!

parang natutulog lang hehe!

and these are my eyes today, compliments of sephora's freebie:

aaaawww, i really love this violet shade!

and since i bought sephora's eye base, i noticed that even the eyeshadows that i have labelled X before (coz they're useless) are now giving amazing shades!

i was ignoring this shade before, but when i tried it now i was surprised to see that it was a shimmering gold eyeshadow!

that base is awesome!

*update*  unfortunately it's sticky and it gives me a hard time blending my powder eyeshadow.  i think it makes them clumpy, too...  too bad coz it's so long-lasting and makes the colors vivid!

eyeshadow friday

its battered, i know...

for so long i have planned to try out all the colors in my eyeshadow and this afternoon i finally had the curiosity to do so, but i was only on the 3rd row when i lost interest again and said ill try tomorrow.

then i remembered that even though it's ramadan and office hours are suppose to be from 8am til 2pm, i have a part-time job at my boss' new chocolate shop and promised to design the chocolate wrappings...

oh well, maybe next year!

here are the rankings i made:

Class S- super pigmented, parang pang pageant na parang fairy ang effect. talagang napa-wow ako :D
Rate #1 - super pigmented din but i cant wear at daytime. maganda ang effect pag dinners
Rate #2 - excited to wear during summer, may be subtle or not, but kita naman, esp.the pastel ones.
Rate #3 - may kulay, pero hindi enough. parang highlight na kulay lang, kita parin yung skin
x( - clumpy and not pigmented at all

since it's from hongkong i expected it to have x( ones, but i was impressed by the number of Class S (parang sila eugene lang hehe) that i found... grabe ang silky pag brush ang ginamit mo and it was super-super ang ganda!!! hindi ako nagsisising binili ko sya :)

some shots:

and then i realized that after all this years, what i most wanted to do was to fix my eyebrows. but everytime i plan either with my sister or my officemates to go to a salon, it gets cancelled. many times i stared long and hard at the mirror with either a razor or a tweezer but im too scared to start. what if, instead of correcting my unidentical brows (i think i got one from each parent x(...) i make it worse?

anyways i faced my fears and with a tip i got from one make-up blogger i started little by little until finally, i was satisfied. i won't post the pix here for fears of judgment, but anyways maybe you'll see it in future pictures...

have you faced any silly fears of yours lately?

my konad phase

this is what bambi gave me for my birthday - a konad starter kit which i love - love - love!

im buying more plates and colors from ebay!

so for the past two weeks i have changed my nail polishes for more than 3x a week, and last night was one of my best designs because i love the simplicity of it! but if you look closely at my index finger it's halfway gone because i saw our guitar last night and i was overactingly singing hale's broken sonnet. hihi!

it was worth it coz it was such a beautiful song..

so... for today i was expecting a crazy day at work coz my boss' wife came back from lebanon and she usually gives me other stuff to compete with my office duties, but i think she's still resting. bless her soul for not disturbing me today.

as my official motto in the office, if im gonna be scolded or busy or sad, i might as well be pretty, so i used yellow and pink for my eyes... and i love them!!!
